Soil Testing

Soil testing to provide an accurate and comprehensive soil evaluation is an important step in developing a turf nutrition plan.

Floratine uses proprietary testing methods to perform a standard exchangeable soil test. This test uses chemical extraction to gather and report on the chemical components found in the soil. Then a second test, known as a water extraction or soluble paste test, is performed. This method uses water, not acids, to extract the nutrients, and is a more accurate predictor of plant nutrient availability.

After the testing is completed, the data is evaluated using an extensive system of comparative databases to regionalize the soil evaluation, taking into account various soil, water, and environmental conditions.

From this data a model is built that can accurately predict outcomes in many critical areas by using the information from both testing methods. This combined approach gives superintendents a more complete picture of the soil, highlighting the impact of soil on all facets of plant growth, health and durability.
